A customized CHT75D split-barrel twin screw extruder manufactured by COWIN has successfully completed assembly, factory acceptance testing, and trial operation, and is now ready for delivery to the customer.
The machine features an electrically operated clamshell barrel structure, allowing the barrel to be opened quickly for screw inspection, cleaning, and maintenance. To meet the customer’s special processing requirements, the screw elements are manufactured from specialized materials, while the barrel is constructed using highly wear-resistant and corrosion-resistant alloys to ensure long-term operational reliability.
The extrusion system adopts a low-speed, high-torque design. The screw shaft is equipped with an internal water-cooling channel, enabling precise temperature control for low-temperature mixing and compounding applications. To further enhance operational safety, the drive system incorporates a German R+W torque limiter coupling and torque sensor installed between the motor and gearbox. The torque limiter provides instantaneous mechanical overload protection, helping prevent accidental damage to critical components such as the gearbox, screws, and barrels. Meanwhile, the torque sensor continuously monitors and records the actual operating torque of the extrusion system, providing valuable process data for production management.
Designed for hazardous operating environments, the extruder is built to meet the customer’s explosion-proof requirements. All motors, electrical components, and control systems are selected in accordance with the specified explosion-protection standards. In addition, the machine base is finished with 304 stainless steel panels, making daily cleaning and maintenance more convenient.
For process control, the extruder utilizes a Siemens S7-1500 PLC integrated with an industrial computer through Ethernet communication. Combined with the industrial computer’s powerful data processing and storage capabilities, the system enables real-time monitoring, data recording, remote diagnostics, and remote operation of the equipment.
Notably, this project represents the customer’s fifth purchase of a similar customized extrusion system from COWIN. Following factory acceptance testing and trial operation, the customer’s expert team confirmed that the equipment fully met the design specifications and expressed strong approval of several design improvements incorporated into this latest version.
