Dryer

Perfect for post-processing in plastics manufacturing, our high-velocity air dryer efficiently removes surface moisture from materials such as plastic pellets and extruded profiles. The dryer can boost production efficiency, reduce energy consumption, and enhance product quality, thus making it an ideal choice for underwater pelletizing and profile extrusion.

Core Function

Removal of Surface Moisture from Materials:

Commonly used in post-processing stages like plastic pelletizing (e.g., underwater pelletizing) and profile extrusion, this equipment rapidly dries the surface of extruded materials (pellets, profiles) using high-velocity air streams. Generated by a blower and delivered through ducting to a drying chamber/air knife, this airflow blows away surface moisture (or coolant). This prevents overburdening subsequent drying stages and enhances production efficiency.

Application Scenarios

  1. Plastic Pellet Production: After underwater pelletizing, pellets carry surface water. The dryer uses a high-velocity air stream to quickly remove free surface moisture, facilitating subsequent hot air drying or direct packaging (if moisture specifications permit).
  2. Profile Extrusion (e.g., Pipes, Sheets): After extrusion, surfaces may retain coolant/water residues. The dryer removes watermarks to prevent surface quality issues (e.g., before printing, lamination, or other surface treatments).

Equipment Structure Analysis

  1. Base-Mounted Blower: Provides motive force, generating the high-velocity air stream (typically a centrifugal fan with adjustable air volume and static pressure).
  2. Metal Ducting: Transports the airstream to the top-mounted drying unit (e.g., an air knife configuration). This focuses the airstream onto the material pass-through zone, ensuring uniform drying.
  3. Drying Chamber/Air Knife: As material passes through, it is enveloped by the high-velocity air, rapidly stripping away moisture. Design features may include air guides and adjustable air outlets to accommodate different material sizes (e.g., pellet size, profile width).

  Advantages

  1. High-Efficiency Drying: Compared to ambient air drying, the dryer significantly reduces drying time via forced convection, matching the continuous output of extruders.
  2. Reduced Energy Consumption: Minimizes energy usage in subsequent thermal drying stages (if only free surface moisture removal is needed, material can proceed directly to lower-energy finishing processes).
  3. Enhanced Product Quality: Prevents issues caused by residual moisture, such as pellet agglomeration (caking), surface defects on profiles, or negative impacts on downstream processes (e.g., injection molding, printing).
