Plastic Hopper Dryer – Hot Air Hopper Dryer

Cowin plastic hopper dryer is an integrated drying and storage device that uses controlled hot air circulation to uniformly remove moisture from plastic pellets, preventing defects such as bubbles and surface flaws during extrusion or injection molding, and ensuring stable processing quality and material performance.

Composition of the Hot Air Hopper Dryer

  • Hopper Body: A cone-shaped container made of stainless steel, used for storing plastic pellets to be dried. The conical design facilitates uniform material flow.
  • Hot Air Drying System: Includes heaters, air blowers, and hot air circulation pipelines, which remove moisture from plastic pellets by heating and forcing air circulation. (The air pipe wrapped with thick asbestos cloth and heat insulation fabric)
  • Temperature Control & Display Unit: Like the control cabinet on the right side of the image, it can accurately set, monitor, and adjust the drying temperature and time to ensure stable drying performance.
  • Material Loading Device: The vacuum conveyor at the top automatically feeds raw materials from the storage barrel to the drying hopper for continuous material supply.
  • Material Flow & Monitoring Components: Includes level sensors, observation windows, pressure valves, etc., used to monitor material level, observe material status, and maintain stable internal pressure in the hopper.
  • Conicalscreen: The hopper is equipped with a stainless steel conical screen, ensuring uniform distribution of the materials.

Application in the Plastic Extrusion Industry

Core Purpose:

To remove moisture from plastic pellets (e.g., PE, PP, ABS, PET), preventing bubbles, silver streaks, and surface defects in extruded products, while ensuring melt uniformity and product mechanical properties.

Typical Scenarios:

  • Pipe/Profile Extrusion: Drying raw materials such as PVC and PE to prevent bubbles and cracks in the pipe inner wall, improving product pressure resistance and surface finish.
  • Film/Sheet Extrusion:Drying raw materials such as PET and PP to avoid crystal points and holes in the film, ensuring film light transmittance and tensile strength.
  • Cable Coating Extrusion: Drying insulating materials such as XLPE and PVC to prevent air bubbles in the insulation layer, ensuring the electrical insulation performance of cables.
  • Drying the feedstock of injection molding: Drying the finished pellets produced by the extrusion and granulation line to prevent bubbles and surface defects in the injection molded parts due to moisture in the feedstock pellets.
