Screw Loader–Automatic Screw Feeding Conveyor

The screw loader (automatic screw feeding conveyor) lifts and transfers powder or granular materials from hoppers or silos to higher-positioned equipment. Featuring a simple, enclosed design, continuous operation, adjustable feed rates, and easy maintenance, it replaces manual handling for efficient, clean, and reliable material conveying in production lines.

Screw Loader–Automatic Screw Feeding Conveyor

Screw loader is primarily used for the automated lifting and conveying of powder and granular materials. The core function is to efficiently transport materials from a lower position (e.g., a storage silo, feed hopper) to higher equipment (e.g., reactors, mixers), replacing manual handling and enabling continuous feeding in production lines.

Working Principle:

A drive motor rotates the spiral shaft, causing the spiral flights (or screw blades) to rotate with it. Material enters the bottom of the conveying tube from the feed hopper. As the spiral flights rotate, they exert an axial thrust force on the material, pushing it upward along the conveying tube. The feed hopper can be equipped with a vibrating device or agitation mechanism to prevent material “bridging” and ensure smooth feeding. Driven by the spiral thrust, the material reaches the top and is discharged from the outlet, completing the lifting and conveying process.

Features:

  • Simple Structure & Easy Maintenance: Composed of a feed hopper, conveying tube, and drive motor, it has few potential failure points. Disassembly for cleaning or maintenance is straightforward.
  • Enclosed Conveying & Environmental Cleanliness: The fully enclosed conveying tube minimizes dust emission and material contamination, meeting the clean production requirements.
  • Continuous Operation & Precise Control: Capable of 24/7 continuous operation with stable conveying capacity. Feed rate (e.g., from several to dozens of kilograms per minute) can be precisely controlled by adjusting the speed of the variable-frequency drive motor.
  • Enhanced Material Compatibility: Adaptable to materials of different densities and particle sizes by modifying the pitch, flight configuration (e.g., using variable-pitch screws), or incorporating a vibrating hopper (to prevent bridging).
  • Cost Efficiency: Lower initial equipment procurement cost and reduced energy consumption compared to alternatives like belt conveyors or bucket elevators.
