Temperature-Controlled Extrusion Water Trough

The temperature-controlled extrusion water trough provides precision cooling for high-performance extrusion. Its dual-loop system maintains clean, reusable water at a stable temperature, with customizable heat exchangers to improve quality, dimensional stability, and efficiency in sensitive extrusion applications like medical tubing and optical fiber coating.

Temperature-Controlled Extrusion Water Trough

Precision Cooling for High-Performance Extrusion

In high-precision extrusion processes, consistent and controlled cooling is essential to achieving high product quality, dimensional stability, and process repeatability. Traditional water troughs often fall short in meeting these requirements, especially when dealing with sensitive materials or applications where water management is critical.

Our temperature-controlled water trough system is specifically engineered for demanding extrusion environments where precise thermal control, clean water circulation, and energy efficiency are key.

How It Works

The system uses a dual-loop design, separating the process water (used inside the trough) from the industrial cooling water. These two water circuits are completely isolated and interact only through a heat exchanger—no direct contact occurs between them.

Process Water Circuit (Primary Loop)

This is a closed-loop system. The water inside the trough comes into direct contact with the extruded product. A dedicated pump circulates this water continuously through the system and back into the trough. The temperature is controlled by passing the water through a heat exchanger, keeping it stable and consistent—typically between 20°C and 60°C.

Cooling Water Circuit (Secondary Loop)

This circuit supplies cooling water from an external source such as a cooling tower (typically) or chiller. It runs through the other side of the heat exchanger, absorbing heat from the process water without mixing with it. The two circuits are completely separated by metal walls inside the heat exchanger, ensuring clean, hygienic operation.

Key Advantages

  • Accurate and Stable Temperature Control
Supports water temperature regulation typically from 20°C to 60°C, crucial for materials that are heat-sensitive or require controlled cooling rates.
  • Water-Saving and Eco-Friendly
As a closed-loop system, the internal water can be reused for long periods with minimal maintenance, supporting sustainable production and regulatory compliance.
  • Customizable Heat Exchanger Configuration
Choose from compact plate-type heat exchangers for high-efficiency cooling, or shell-and-tube models for greater durability and resistance to clogging.
  • Improved Product Quality
Consistent cooling reduces deformation, shrinkage, and surface defects—especially important in high-precision extrusion.

Typical Applications

  • Medical tubing and catheters
  • Microbore and multilumen tubes
  • Optical fiber coatings
  • High-clarity plastic profiles or rods
  • Engineering polymer extrusion (e.g., PEEK, PVDF)
  • Lab-scale or pilot extrusion lines

Whether you’re producing tight-tolerance medical parts or advanced industrial tubing, our temperature-controlled trough systems help maintain product integrity while improving process control and efficiency.
